Field Notes
Follow my creative endeavors and join a community of curious readers who want to notice more of the world around them through haiku, photography, and other creative acts.
Most weeks, I share updates on projects I’m working on, new ideas I’m testing, and announcements for resources, workshops, and products. It’s a front-row seat to my work and thinking.

Exhibition – Mahjong Connections
When I moved to Sisimiut back in 2021, one of the first people I met was Judith – one of the few other expats in town and a keen Mahjong player. I’ve always loved Mahjong (my brother and I had a card-based version of it when we were kids) but have had limited opportunities to…
THL#06 – Dogsledding, Phenology, haiku moment + awareness prompt
Sorry for missing a week last week. It turns out that moving from one side of the world to the other is quite an involved job – especially when trying to keep costs down! Field Notes One of the things I wanted to do before leaving Greenland was go for another dogsledding trip. I’ve been…
THL#05 – Raven calls, RBNXPLRNG, haiku moment + awareness prompt
Aluu from Greenland’s capital, Nuuk 😀 Wasn’t sure I’d make it! We’d had perfectly still weather for the past month, but for the 3 days leading up to departure, there were strong winds and snow (finally) – not promising when flying out of a tiny airport with a big mountain right next to it on…
THL #04 – Birds, haiku, and an awareness prompt
This week I started getting rid of non-essential stuff from my apartment. Trying to get the jump on selling everything before leaving Greenland at the end of March 😢 I am really, really going to miss this view! Field Notes Turns out, when you live in a very small town and the streets are all higgledy-piggledy, RBNXPLRNG…
THL #03 – Tiny find results, haiku, RBNXPLRNG, and an awareness prompt
This Haiku Life #03: published 11 Feb, 2026. A newsletter about haiku, photography, another other noticing practices.

Join me for another online haiku workshop exclusively for paid subscribers of Rob Walker’s The Art of Noticing community. I’ve followed Rob’s noticing work for ages and have been part of this space for over a year. It’s a wonderful place to slow down and really notice the world around you – practically and thoughtfully.…
THL #02 – Colour walk results, haiku, the Dérive App, and an awareness prompt
We are still waiting for snow here in Greenland 😢 There have been a few overnight dustings, but nothing significant, and footing is still precarious as we navigate icy streets. Usually, dogsled season would be in full swing by now, and parts of the backcountry would echo with the roar of snowmobiles (I live in…
THL #01 – Revisiting locations, haiku, the Art of Noticing, and an awareness prompt
The topsy-turvy weather continues here in Greenland. For the past 2 days, we’ve had positive temperatures when it should be consistently around -17C 🤯🤯🤯 ! Field Notes I have to admit, I didn’t get outdoors much this week. It’s been overcast, windy (a foehn wind from the icecap), and therefore warm (by Greenlandic winter standards),…
